Proverbio en Español
During this project, the goal was for us to better understand our own story and how it has shaped who we are today while also learning more about the preterite and imperfect tenses. In order to do this we wrote a piece in spanish that focused on a moment in our life in which we learned an important lesson. We then shared our story through a verbal presentation and an art piece we created in our art class.
Proverb in English
More was lost in Cuba
For me this proverb means that worst could happen, for example in Cuba during the time of Fidel Castro there was much loss. Growing up, I was taught to take everything as a grain of salt, especially the bad things that happen in life. In everyday situations, something is bound to go wrong. It's your outlook on life that counts. If you take yourself lightly and don't take yourself too seriously, pretty soon you can find the humor in everyday things. And sometimes it can be a lifesaver. You always have to be the first one to laugh at yourself, no matter what; it’s nice to know that even in the worst of situations something much worse could’ve happened. We’re all going to do some pretty stupid, embarrassing, and ridiculous stuff in our lives, and that’s why it is so important to give ourselves some kindness when those things happen instead of beating ourselves up for it. If we can’t find the humor in the less-than-positive situations in our lives, we will spend a large portion of our lives in misery.
