Identity. Who are we to ourselves and to the outside world? What do we share about ourselves and why? This project had us answer these questions while improving and broadening our Spanish language skills. With this project we will learn and benefit from translating our english writing pieces into spanish. By the time this project comes to an end we will hopefully have a polished spanish draft, a beautiful self portrait, and and an even greater appreciation for the beautiful language that is spanish.
english draft
I’d like to think I am a simple person, the type of person who doesn’t need very much to have a good time or to be happy. Having this type of mindset I can, sometimes, come off as an ass; I am all about showing people that I’m a little messed up. I don’t take myself too seriously, I tend to shrug things off that most people would find problematic, worrying, or offensive. I can take a joke, most comments that would be taken in offense don’t bother me, unless they have to do with my height then we got a problem. As one comes to know me they see that I can be a carefree worry wort, I tend to be the “mom” of most situations putting others needs or problems before my own. Once you have cracked my shell you can see that I am just a straightforward person who appreciates naps, some street food, and a good laugh. Appreciating the little things the universe has to offer you can open your eyes to wonders. I don’t need very much to reach a state of contentedness, acknowledging and enjoying the little things is what life is all about and I’m all about life… and tacos.

Reflection
How have your Spanish skills, both written and spoken, improved since taking on this project?
Throughout this project my written Spanish has improved a lot, looking back at the very beginning of this semester I as a partial Hispanohablante we took a reading comprehension test where our answers had to be in Spanish. Comparing what I had written down at the very beginning and what my final Spanish draft has you can see a major improvement, both my spelling and grammar are solid.
How has your confidence improved in speaking Spanish?
Having a pretty solid background with Spanish I felt I was an okay Spanish speaker, but these past 3 months have really boosted my confidence in my Spanish speaking skills. Now having the knowledge of the correct pronunciation and correct tense of verbs I both in and out of class I have a bit more self-confidence and feel more comfortable speaking with native speakers who's first language was Spanish.
